The Istanbul Water Museum is a theoretical proposal on a once-thriving, but currently under-utilized site on the Bosphorus. An intensive investigation of the site revealed inherent forces that informed the concept of the proposal. Among them were a historic district and park, the elevated city overlooking the site begging for access, an industrial complex of existing modular architecture, and of course the water’s edge.
These arteries of energy suggested a capillary action and reaction navigated by the Istanbul Water Museum as the key element necessary to unlock the potential of the site. This building proposal pulls the park through to the industrial center, the modularity to the organic space, and fosters a re-connection of the public to the water’s edge both physically and programmatically.
