“The Storefront” is a proposed six-story building located on Lafayette street between Great Jones and Bond Streets that will be outfitted with approximately 20,000 square feet of medium- to long-term offices or works-spaces that cater specifically to the professional design trades (ie: architects, interior designers, graphic designers, etc).  The driving organizational strategy of the design is the extension of the sidewalk into and through the building, creating a “storefront” condition at many of the offices.  Through a series of amenities spaces, including a café, gym, and landscaped terraces, the public will be drawn along this path where they will discover these small businesses. Additionally, those renting the offices will utilize the path as a circulation route to reach the amenities and by doing so, experience chance encounters and foster collaborative work environment.
